It’s not difficult to get extra credit in my CMAT 240 class — you just have to put in a little extra work.

Here’s one opportunity where you’ll get an additional 20 points on your first quiz grade.

Cleaning Your Copy – complete the free online grammar refresher course, and email me a copy of your course report before class on Sept. 10. You have to spend at least 45-60 minutes on this site (and not just leaving the page open) to get the credit.

Join SPJ, The Flyer, WXSU, NBS, SU-TV or PRSSA – You will have various opportunities to attend meetings for CMAT’s professional groups throughout the semester. For each meeting you attend, I will add five extra credit points to a quiz grade. You must get the extra credit verification sheet signed by the club’s adviser or an officer, and bring it to me in class the week of the meeting. It is your responsibility to get these sheets signed and turned in. I will not accept sheets more than one week past the meeting date.

Upcoming meetings:

Salisbury University SPJ, 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 8, in TETC 151.

The Flyer, 8 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 6, at The Flyer Office in the Guerrieri University Center.

Here is the form you’ll have to turn in: Extra Credit Sheet. There are three on each page, so you can cut them out if you wish and turn in each separately. If you can’t make these meetings, there will be more throughout the semester.

This one won’t be until later, but you’ll be able to get five extra credit points on your project if you get your self-reported article written for this class published in The Flyer, The Daily Times or a similar news publication. (Due by exam day)
